When I was growing up Chinese food was still an exotic culinary treat. In those days we would go out to Chinese restaurants that were actually “full service” restaurants. The dining rooms were always decorated with pictures of the Great Wall of China, colorful ornamental gardens, dragons etc. The food was very different from the typical American fare of the time with unpronounceable names and best of all every meal was finished off with fortune cookies.
